About half a month has passed since I started the PGCert program, and I gradually came to understand my condition. What kind of situation is that and the main problem is …
“I don’t know what I don’t know”.
I’m usually a slow starter, so I get into the same condition and situation every time I start something new. As I wrote in my previous blog, while I met and heard the PGCert participants face-to-face and l heard about the program and structure of UAL from the Course tutors (at PGCert and Performance), I gradually learned what I didn’t understand, and I understand.
So, this time, I would like to clarify what I am lacking at the current moment by defining what I don’t know and what I know.
<What I don’t know or disadvantage>
– Less experience in teaching and interaction with students
– No experience in working as a professional at UAL
– No affinity with UAL’s educational system (Course structure/IT system)
– No experience with BA courses and environment as a student in the UK
– Dyslexia especially
– a necessity for gaining academic references
<What I know>
– The skill and experience of shooting and editing as a professional – My former professional was a TV camera operator and director of moving images in the commercial music industry.
– The experience as a student in an MA environment in the UK
– The collaboration experience with scientists (hopefully, it leads to sharing collaboration skills).
The lists above are roughly my current disadvantages and advantages, but possibly, I will try my best and tick the boxes to eliminate the disadvantage through one-year PGCert program.
