Review–Unit 1: Theories, Policies & Practices

Through the lecture series and practical experience in teaching of Unit1, I think I was able to find and learn some elements that will serve as a foundation for my future teaching, although I cannot say that I could obtain the notion of pedagogy yet.

In particular, I think I was able to deepen my understanding of some of the things “what I don’t know” that I wrote in my first blog. For example, some administrative matters, such as the structure of UAL’s educational system (Course structure/IT system). Also, I could examine the structure of BA through the experience of designing and teaching lectures.

Furthermore, I think the most impactful experience was the interaction in teaching context with the students. Although it was a limited time of five days, through interaction with students, including the process of designing lectures and teaching them, I was able to find various answers and further questions at the same time. Through the interactional experience, I could vaguely define the educational themes that lead to the theme in Unit 2/3, what kind of items I am interested in education, and the subjects I want to learn and might discover the fragments inside. Furthermore, by verbalizing the theme through the assignments of case study, my forthcoming themes in teaching have become clearer. And as I wrote in the Case studies, these subjects and keywords can be further deepened through the Inclusive Practices lectures in Unit 2.
